Hi, my name is Sherry. I work for Lavin Law Group and I manage the probate department here for attorney Christopher Lavin. When somebody needs probate, unfortunately it means that somebody has passed away and that there is not a beneficiary listed on some of their assets.
It could be a complicated, lots of paperwork involved. There are three different types of probate. There is what’s called a summary release, which is a small probate, typically if the assets are under $10,000.
There is a what we call a release of administration, which is for assets under $35,000 unless you’re a surviving spouse, then it can be up to $100,000. There is a full administration, which would be anything over $35,000 and beyond. So it can be complicated.
