Using a Homestead Exemption with the Auditor’s Office

rusts and the Homestead Exemption Explained

Hi, my name is Rachel West and I am the paralegal in the trust department. One of the questions I get is: once I have a trust, can I still use a homestead exemption with my auditor’s office?

The answer is yes, you can. Our trusts are grantor trusts and they allow for you to still get the homestead exemption on your property. Once you have a trust, if you get a letter from the auditor’s office, you would take a copy of your trust to the auditor’s office to give them the appropriate pages to get that taken care of. Thank you and have a great day!
