Hi, I’m Wes Hensley, the Director of Operations for the Lavin and Law Group. Clients often wonder what happens if I decide to work with you for Medicaid planning. You’ll first meet with an attorney who’s going to give you your options based on your assets and your family’s situation.
At that meeting, you’ll be given a list of verifications that is required by the Department of Jobs and Family Services when we apply for Medicaid benefits. Doesn’t matter if it’s nursing home, assisted living, they still ask for the same thing. You’ll then be scheduled to meet with our inside caseworker to bring that material back.
She will put together what we call a resource assessment. That’s going to show your assets as of today and where we need to be to be eligible to receive any type of benefits. After that, she’ll sit down and meet with the attorney.
They’ll make sure that everybody’s still on the same page with your planning, and then we will apply for Medicaid benefits for you. You will have no involvement in this process. Our firm will take care of everything and of course when we get that approval, we’ll let you know.
