Hi, I’m West Hensley, director of operations for the Lavin Law Group. A common question we get asked is what happens if I give away money before applying for Medicaid?
If you give away money, this is considered an improper transfer. That goes for property as well.
So, when you apply for Medicaid, they’re going to impose a restricted period based on the amount of the transfer of money or property.
This means you will be ineligible to receive benefits for a certain number of months before your benefits will kick in.
